St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew met with Adviser for Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean – Salvador Pinto da França in the Cabinet of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission. It was a high-level meeting in continuation of diplomatic engagements observed in Brussels.
The discussions held in Brussels formed part of ongoing efforts by Prime Minister Drew to deepen cooperation between St. Kitts and Nevis, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the European Union. The gathering was mainly focused on various critical issues, that included:
- Economic diversification
- Renewable energy development
- Climate resilience
- International cooperation
- Sustainable regional development
During the meeting, Prime Minister Drew highlighted commitment of the Federation to strengthen economic foundation while also pursuing sustainable growth. He outlined the recent ongoing initiatives that aims at enhancing the integrity and reputation of the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme. These efforts will improve security protocols and regulatory reforms.
PM Drew also emphasised the broader strategy of the government to reduce dependence on the CBI sector. As it clarifies its objective to expand investments in key industries such as tourism, agriculture, technology and sustainable energy. He also explained that these are designed to create a more resilient and diversified economy which is capable of facing global economic challenges.
Prime Minister described the meeting as productive and beneficial for advanced shared goals between the Caribbean and Europe. He further said that it is important to maintain strong partnerships that support sustainable development and create new opportunities for citizens across the region.
