Nigeria has fulfilled its promise to give the Super Falcons Players $100,000 each and $50,000 to each Coach and Technical staff for winning the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament. The 24 Players and 12 officials in total will receive the documents for their three-bedroom apartments in Abuja.
National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman – Shehu Dikko formally handed over the housing allocation documents. The official handover took place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 just hours ahead of their Group-C opening 2026 WAFCON match at the tournament in Rabat, Morocco against Malawi.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed this reward and announced on its official social media handle that NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and NFF General Secretary Mohammad Sanusi led the presentation on behalf of the federal Government.
This reward included a cash prize of $100,000 for each player, which has already been paid into their individual bank accounts, along with the allocation of a three-bedroom apartment to every player under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Housing Estate initiative.
Members of the team’s technical crew are also beneficiaries of the government’s reward package.

President Bola Tinubu Ahmed announced the incentives shortly after Nigeria defeated host Morocco to win the 2025 WAFCON title. A victory that secured the Super Falcons’ record-extending 10th African crown. In addition to the financial rewards and housing allocation, the President also conferred national honours on members of the victorious squad.
NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko mentioned that they decided to present the keys while the players were together in Morocco. Their $100,000 has already been paid into their various bank accounts, and they believe this gesture will further boost their morale as they begin the defence of their WAFCON title.
The Super Falcons entered the 2026 WAFCON as defending champions and Africa’s most successful women’s national team and has made a record of winning the tournament for 10 times.
Furthermore, Nigeria has opened their campaign against tournament debutants Malawi and will also face Zambia and Egypt in their remaining Group-C fixtures as they seek an unprecedented 11th continental title.
The 2026 WAFCON is being observed in Morocco from July 26 to August 16 this year. It is also serving as Africa’s qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the World Cup, while one additional nation will have an opportunity to qualify through the intercontinental play-offs.
