Kenya: The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has been named as the Best Implementing Partner of the Year 2026 by the Kenya Red Cross Society in recognition of its long-standing partnership. The collaboration has helped advance humanitarian and community development programmes across the Coastal region.
The award was presented at a well-organised ceremony that brought together government officials, humanitarian partners, community leaders and volunteers. All of them gathered to celebrate efforts that strengthen community welfare and resilience.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) – Capt. William Ruto was represented by the Manager Corporate Communication – Jones Buchere during the event to award volunteers.
Furthermore, Capt. Ruto commended the Kenya Red Cross Society and added that the humanitarian organisation will continue to play a key role in transforming lives and supporting vulnerable communities nationwide. Especially, if KPA appreciates the partnership in impacting positively on such communities.
Considering the honour, Capt. Ruto stated that this recognition underscores the value of partnerships in improving the wellbeing of their communities. Kenya Ports Authority has remained committed to work closely with the Kenya Red Cross to support programmes which will create lasting social impact and improve livelihoods.
He also praised that the dedication of Kenya Red Cross volunteers and urged them to continue their service to society. Also, he told the volunteers that their commitment to serve humanity is commendable. He added that they will continue to uphold the spirit of volunteerism and compassion as they work together to build stronger and more resilient communities.
The Kenya Red cross society Mombasa branch volunteer Awards ceremony was attended by several dignitaries that included Executive Committee Member for Sports and Youth Affairs of Mombasa County – Jonathan Wepukhulu; CECM for Education – Mbwarali Kame; CECM for Lands and Buildings – Mohamed Shadow; and Deputy Governor of the National Kenya Red Cross Society – Taib Abdulrahman Ahmed; along with the Chairman of Kenya Red Cross Mombasa – Johnson Gachanja among others.
