Kenya is building the Talanta Stadium in Nairobi which is about to complete. The work is in progress, and the stadium holds capacity of 60,000 seating. The arrangements have been intensified as the country will soon host the AFCON 2027 with Uganda and Tanzania.
At present, the venue has installed fitted seats, established turfs on the playing surface and placed both illumination systems and large display panels. Sports Minister Salim Mvurya indicated that the stadium is 94% complete with the finished main pitch and the final work is underway.
As per the sources, Talanta Sports City will host major matches. It will either accommodate the inaugural ceremony or the concluding match of the football tournament or the Finale. The place will also incorporate three practice fields each providing accommodation for 1500 people and will feature further training facilities for the teams.
Chairman of Local Organising Committee (LOC) – Nicholas Musonye, who is the former secretary general of CECAFA told the Selection Committee of National Assembly on Regional Integration that Kenya is ready to host both the ceremonies which are scheduled to observe from June to July 2027.

Musonye said that they are confident that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will give them a god ranking as they possess good security and the best hotels in the region. They are at over 90% in terms of preparation which is really a good thing.
Principal Secretary (PS) in the State Department for Sports – Elija Mwangi and LOC members assured the committee that Kenya is working to get ready to co-host the continental tournament with Uganda and Tanzania next year.
The Committee was informed under the Pamoja AFCON initiative; that Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania had held a high-level kick-off meeting in Kampala, Uganda, where they reviewed the tournament roadmap. The three host countries reaffirmed that AFCON 2027 will be held from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
Notably, these countries are jointly preparing infrastructure, hospitality, safety and security, media and broadcasting facilities. They are also working on a common visa that aims at making movement between the three host countries easier during the tournament.
The Select Committee expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations and said that the one-month tournament could bring economic benefits to Kenya and the wider East African region.
