South Africa: Some members of the community found baby believed to be alive was found in a big bag in Tea Estate – KZN. The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Center received the call for assistance at 08:34.
The caller gave the on duty officer a vague location off the main road approximately seven kilometres from the Verulam CBD. The caller informed the Controller on Duty that three (3) men with five dogs were rummaging through bin bags looking for recycling material.
At this point, they discovered a baby dumped on a dirt road in the rural area of Verulam. The individuals who found the baby fled the area and reported the find to neighbours who immediately contacted Reaction Unit for assistance.
Paramedics & Reaction Officers were dispatched to the general area which the caller had specified. After a brief search, the located the scene. A new born baby girl was found in a black big bag. Paramedics found that the baby was unresponsive & declared her deceased at approximately 09:07.
Reaction Officers are attempting to track the mother of the deceased newborn for further details regarding the incident. The Reaction Officers have claimed that the caller believed the child to be alive when they asked for assistance.
The officers shared that the three men who had discovered the child fled the area prior to arrival of First Responders. The organization further announced that a team of eighteen officers was dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.
The members of the organization have shared some images and a video from the scene where the newborn was abandoned. The search for the child’s mother is also in progress. On the other hand, the people of the nation have come forward to express their disgust with the actions of the mother.
Several social media commentors reflected that it is inhuman to abandon babies when several parents in the world are praying for children.
One social media commentor wrote: I really don’t understand these people who throw babies away. If u are having sex and don’t want children there are clinics to go get birth control.
If u are so brave to deliver a baby then u can raise that child. How cruel can a person be to thrown in a bag. How dumb can you be. So heartless.
The commentor suggested that the people should stop engaging in sexual intimacy if they are not emotionally ready to have a baby. Yet another user claimed that god would punish the mother for her inhuman act.
