Cape Town: Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth and Tourism of the City of Cape – Alderman James Vos confirmed that the Mother City is excited to welcome the tourists from all across the world with a bumper tourism season ahead.
Alderman James Vos extended his gratitude and thanked a focused, multi-pronged strategy between the City Government and the partners.
Vos stated that according to him leading the economic growth portfolio in Cape Town is more than a job for him, it is a passion and privilege.
He expressed further that he gets to drive programmes and platforms which make Cape Town the easiest place to do business in Africa and beyond. Cape Town’s Economic Growth Strategy drives for sure results.
Talking about the Cape Town’s Economic Growth strategy, Alderman James Vos said that it showcases results to drive investment, skills development and business growth.
The major achievements they received from this strategy is:
- Marine Manufacturing – More than 300 luxury boats were built as they contribute R4.7 billion every year.
- Clothing Production – Over 389 million garments were produced that added R5.6 billion annually.
- Green Energy – The city has invested 4 Gigawatt in renewable energy projects that are worth R100 billion nationally.
The Economic Growth strategy has impacted the city Cape town in many ways, out of which the more gets highlighted is:
- More than 1.756 million people were employed across all over the Cape Town.
- Partnerships were enhanced, which were made with the Special Purpose Vehicles such as Blue Cape, Green Cape and the Cape Clothing and Textile Cluster.
- The economic growth strategy is driving growth in Cape Town by creating jobs and transforming lives.
Notably, Cape Town celebrates the time of December to February as tourism season. This is the time when the city has the most suitable atmosphere for all and receives plethora of tourists from across the world.
