Alderman Vos tours thriving boat-building firms ‘Sparcraft and DTYD’ 

Blue Cape has made it easier for businesses like Sparcraft and Du Toit Yacht Design (DTYD) to connect with local and moreover with international markets and grow ocean economy of Cape Town.

Cape Town: Member of Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth of City of Cape Town – Alderman James Vos, visited two incredible businesses in city’s thriving boat-building industry, Sparcraft and Du Toit Yacht Design (DTYD).  

Vos had an enriching experience, that was made possible with the support of Blue Cape, which is a key partner of the City of Cape Town in advancing the ocean economy. 

Reportedly, the Sparcraft Masts was established back in 1962. The company is known for its engineering excellence in crafting high-quality masts, booms and rigging systems.  

As being a part of Wichard Group, Sparcraft delivers custom and innovative solutions for the sailing and yachting industries with a global presence across facilities in France and the USA. 

Du Toit Yacht Design (DTYD) was founded by Anton and Charmaine du Toit in the year 2001. The firm has now grown into a premier naval architecture company of South Africa.  

As per the sources, DTYD is designing more custom catamarans than any other designer in the southern hemisphere.  

At present, DTYD firm is working on more than 120 projects, which also include the renowned Balance Catamarans and custom builds in collaboration with global industry leaders. 

According to James Vos, it is Blue Cape that plays a vital role in facilitating networking in the industry, along with market access and providing policy support.
