Another post on fake news has been shared by the Premier of Western Cape – Alan Winde. This time, it is a fake news claiming him to be affected by Monkey Pox.
The news was posted by a fake account with the username ‘Alan Winde 6’. The news post as Premier Winde says, “Got my first Monkeypox jab today. I will not get infected by Monkeys!”
While sharing the image of the fake news, Premier Alan Winde wrote that there are a number of fake accounts sharing the posts intended to mislead the public and the official members.
Premier of Western Cape requested the citizens not to believe such fake news, that are maligning his image, he said, “I urge everyone to report these posts on the respective social media platforms.”
Earlier, he also made people aware of the scams running in Cape Town involving his name. He also shared a picture of the WhatsApp scam number on his official ‘X’ account.
Winde shared the information of the scam with the citizens and confirmed people that this is not his number. And if they receive any message of call from the number, then they need to report it to the relevant authorities, who are officially authorised to check and investigate the scam.
He further extended his gratitude to the residents who have brought this his attention at the Cabinet Outreach, a night before yesterday.
As per the sources, the WhatsApp scam assured the people on the name of Premier Alan Winde that they have an offer for the people to earn more than R55,000 in just 6 hours.
The scam claims, “Have an offer for you on how you can earn more than R55,000 in just 6 hours of trading with your smart phone without sending money to anyone.”
Following the fake news, many people have shared their experience in the comment section, and expressed their views.
A social media user Annie Fagrew commented, “Really stupid, because many people don’t bother to check and I just blocked it. If you haven’t already done so report it on X, this is an important issue & doesn’t need fake news being spread.”
Another person with the username Sincoko De Essay, expressed, “We need to have a system that can track fake accounts’ address so that people can be charged for misinformation. The message behind that fake account is disgusting.”
