Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC) of Western Cape continues to coordinate the multi-disciplinary response to the series of cold fronts that are lashing large parts of the province.
The primary focus continued to be on the rescue efforts. Keeping this in mind, they were proactively setting up the plans to expedite the identification of the deceased. This was done by the Forensic Pathology Service (FPS) and the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Family and friends of the construction workers are also involved in the incident and are being given space to gather at the foyer of the main municipal building and will be assisted by the Department of Social Services and Correctional Services Social Workers.
