Cape Town: The anti-litter mascot ‘Bingo’ of City of Cape Town has reached a milestone and made a new record. The famous Bingo has surprised all by visiting more than 600 public events since it joined the city, in July 2023.
Bingo is now very popular among people and its diary is almost filled up. Public still have a chance to book a visit for schools and events and invite the anti-litter mascot ‘Bingo’.
This anti-litter mascot plays a vital role in promoting responsible waste disposal across the communities of Cape Town, through exchange of high-energy interactions and educational activities.
As mentioned earlier, Bingo has become a well-known figure at schools, community events and local gatherings. It inspires residents of Cape Town to adopt cleaner habits and take ownership of their environment.
Moreover, it engages with people of all ages, and conveys the message of proper waste disposal, via entertaining and accessible medium.
As of now, Bingo has attended many major and prominent events such as Cape Town Carnival, City of Cape Town festive season programme at beaches, HSBC Sevens, Stormers or Springboks matches at Cape Town Stadium and The Netball World Cup too.
Notably, residents, businesses, schools and community organisations are also reminded timely that Bingo is available for events. A visit from mascot Bingo includes educational talks, skits or games, depending on the requirements that aims at discouraging the litter. It also consists of fun and engaging interactions with the audience.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Urban Waste Management – Alderman Grant Twigg said that they are thrilled with the impact Bingo has made in the past year by reaching 600 events across the Cape Town, to promote responsible waste disposal.
The Urban Waste Management team has extended a heartfelt thanks to every school, business and community group that welcomed Bingo to their events and gave the City of Cape Town a platform to share the important message.
Twigg expressed his desire to encourage more organisations to book Bingo so that together they can inspire a cleaner and greener Cape Town for all.
