Botswana: Tonota District Council Chairman Baemedi Medupi extended a helping hand to the community and donated two (2) wheelchairs to Masedi Clinic in Tonota. The donation was welcomed by the people of the community as it would increase the healthcare capacity of the clinic.
The wheelchairs will lead to better accessibility for the patients who want to get medical assistance from the clinic. Council Chairman Medupi became aware of the shortage of wheelchairs at Masedi Clinic during his visit.
He acted quickly to rectify the situation and approached a potential sponsor. He sought help with the procurement of wheelchairs for the clinic and informed the sponsor about the significance of their aid.
Council Chairman, Baemedi Medupi informed the sponsor that the wheelchairs will enhance the clinic’s capacity to serve patients with mobility impairments.
The donation will also contribute to the overall efficiency of the clinic’s operation and make the space more inclusive. The donation of the equipment was made in the presence of the Principal Medical Officer at Masedi clinic.
Dr Kabelo Seemise was happy to receive the donation of the equipment as the shortage of wheelchairs was causing issues for the administration of the clinic. The Principal Medical Officer said, the donation came handy as they had one wheelchair which is very old and needed replacement
When receiving the wheelchairs, Dr Kabelo Seemise expressed gratitude for the noble gesture by the Council Chairman. He also applauded Chairman Medupi for being observant of the clinic’s needs and donating at the right time.
Meanwhile, Area Councillor Hon Andy Boatile delivered brief remarks at the donation. He appreciated the Council Chairman for meeting the needs of the Masedi Clinic.
He encouraged for more donations to be made towards the clinic as there a lot of things needed by the clinic such as shelter for the patient waiting area.
Meanwhile, the people of the district have expressed their sincere appreciation to the administration for their actions. They thanked the district administration for the generous gesture.
