Cape Town: All systems get involved in for 2025 Bayhill Premier Cup. The event considered to be the premier under-19 soccer tournament on the continent. It will celebrate 36 years of youth development in 2025.
The Recreation and Parks Departments are showing their support to the Bayhill Premier Cup by providing venues and related event services. The staff has been hard at work to ensure that the Erica Park Stadium in Belhar is ready for action when the competition kicked off on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
Bayhill Premier Cup is considered as one of the top under-19 soccer tournaments. Over the Easter long weekend, 32 teams from the Western Cape, the rest of South Africa and broad, will vie for top honours. The final years are being hosted at Athlone Stadium to accommodate more spectators and that will once again be the case on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Member of Mayoral Committee for Community Services and Health – Councillor Francine Higham said that she want to commend the staff who have been hard at work behind the scenes to put the finishing touches in place for highlighting the sporting calendar.
Higham further stated that the City of Cape Town is proud to be associated with the Bayhill Premier Cup and they can’t wait to welcome the teams and their supporters. To all of the young participants, she wished them the very best as they compete for a spot in the finals and for ultimate glory.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman Jean-Pierre Smith also gave his statement and said that they are proud of the long-standing partnership with the Bayhill Premier Cup, which has provided thousands of the young soccer players with a platform to showcase their skills at a globally recognised tournament.
Their support for the event is the strong commitment to the City of Cape Town to grassroot sports growth and youth development. They are working with the event organisers behind the scenes to ensure the players and spectators to have a safe and memorable tournament.
Moreover, Erica Park Stadium has a maximum capacity of approx. 3,800 spectators. Tickets for games at this venue will be sold at the gate. Tickets for the finals at Athlone Stadium will need to be pre-booked online as advertised by the Bayhill event organisers.
Director of Bayhill Tournament – Rayaan Alie said that the build up to this year’s event has surpassed the expectations, as the play-offs began in October 2024 and culminated in February this year, with the top-12 teams from the Western Cape, which qualified out of 193 participants from the province.
The highlight thus far was a premier launch event where the group drawn from the tournament took place. This event is supported strongly by the City of Cape Town that has set the tone for what promises to be the biggest BPC tournament to date. The draw revealed three foreign teams, several PSL and NFD teams and the balance of academy and LFA teams from across the country.
The stage has been set to witness the finest talent of South Africa that go head-to-head for the Roger Clayton Championship Trophy. They wished the participants the best of luck and urged the communities to come and experience the excellent football venues at Erica park and Athlone Stadium.
