Bids are being solicited for the development of solar minigrids in Uganda

The Power Africa Off-grid Project (PAOP) has issued a request for applications (RFA) to develop minigrids in Uganda’s Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement in the Sub-Saharan nation of Uganda.

The last day to introduce the project of Solar Minigrids is February 8, 2022.

The work content includes design, engineering, supply structure, testing and commissioning of the projects, including five years of extensive maintenance for off-grid solar photovoltaics and battery mini-grids.

Power Africa Off-grid Project signed a four-year contract between United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and RTI International (Research Triangle Institute).

It aims to fund one or numerous awards to provide incentives, in the form of grants, to mini-grid creators to unite on developing minigrids in Ntenungi village, Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement in Western Uganda.

The last value of an individual grant is $500,000.

The grant either be fixed amount award grants (FAA) or cost compensate grants. For FAAs, PAOP will arrange payments according to the process of submitting and accepting specific verifiable milestones.

Once an award is issued, it will make the payment, fixed price payment schedule with milestones, and deliverable negotiated during the final application and award process.

For cost-reimbursable grants, the allocation will be done after submitting an invoice to PAOP and verifying expenditures incurred and found appropriate, allocated and allowable.

Cost reimbursable grants will be first used for larger interventions.

Reimbursement will be scheduled according to frequencies, not more than monthly, and upon review and acceptance of financial reports.

According to initial market studies and socio-economic assessments, including geospatial data, have been conducted for the targe geography.

Whilst, the successful bidders are expected to verify and update their data to reflect the actual situation.

Programs financed through this demand for submissions must be completed by September 30, 2022.

Only entities who have a physical presence in Uganda or partner with entities physically can have a chance to submit the bids.
