Blanche Bailly the Cameroonian Afro-singer and songwriter has written a note about how people in Cameroon believes that the female artists trade their bodies for money that makes them earn a luxurious lifestyle.
In her note on social media, she wrote that it’s a misconception that people have about her hustle.
Bailly started her note by writing, “It’s hard enough to be a WOMAN, let alone a successful WOMAN.”
She mentioned that people will disregard your position and talent, “People will downplay your success and find every excuse for why you are where you are, without mentioning your talent, work ethic, discipline and consistency.”
“Ironically, men run with these narratives, far from the truth, in order to instigate other women being inspired by you, in order to gain from their own personal hidden agendas,” added Blanche Bailly.
She highlighted the belief that is moulded by society that women should be dependent on a man and wrote, “Our society has moulded the belief that women should be dependent on a man, therefore anything that a woman has or acquires comes from a MAN=SEX”
The artist disgraced that some women are also comfortable with the narrative that it is because it makes them feel better.
Bailly expressed, “I am so proud of women these days who despite of social norms, fight for their independence and respect, daily.”
She admitted that being a part of this industry, she is a victim too, “As an artist and entrepreneur who has worked independently since the start of my career, I too am a victim of the constant slander.”
“Women, let any negative slander fuel you to work,” expressed afro-singer Bailly.
Following the note by Blanche Bailly many fans and followers have commented their views and opinions.
A follower named Che Housia commented, “That’s the society for us. The first rule of success is to rise above societal pressure and conventional wisdom. I personally respect women who argue the narrative that women were created to be taken care of by men. This narrative is responsible for the objectification of women and it is sad women propagate it.”
Another follower with the username ‘Morel officiel’ wrote, “I imagine how difficult it is for an artist (man) to succeed independently in music I imagine while being a woman it’s even harder. I take my hat off to you really the artist Blanche Bailly because self-producing after more than 8 years of career is not given.”
Christian Pride commented, “Our queen mimba Blanche Bailly, we are always behind. We always stand by u, keep doing what u do best, much love, your top fan.”
Many other fans have supported the notion of the artist as it is right to raise against what is happening wrong.
