Botswana: Neo Masisi, the First Lady and the wife of Botswana President, officially opened the annual CITF Training Manufacturing Construction Mining (TMCM) , Expo, today.
Her Excellency, who is also the Patron of Technical Vocational Training (TVT), commended CITF for the sterling work of producing competent trainees.
The event was themed: “Advancing a Multi-Skilled Economy through Business Collaborations” and witnessed partners and industry captains, both local and international, in attendance. Her Excellency said the fulfilment of the theme would result in highly competent trainees who are ready to be absorbed into the world of work.
“Development does not happen to people; it is people who cause development,” said First Lady Neo Masisi as she urged CITF and partners to increase enrollment of young women. The first lady further encouraged Industry players to increase the involvement of women in the sector as they have a lot to offer.
The First Lady applauded the training offered at CITF, saying it is aligned with Pillar 2 of Vision 2036: Human Social Development. By 2036, Botswana will be a moral, tolerant and inclusive society that provides opportunities for all.
While giving her keynote address, the First Lady of the Republic of Botswana, Neo Masisi, implored all in attendance to continue resuscitating TVET education, as it has the potential to grow the economy.
The event, hosted in collaboration with the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA , featured Botswana’s first lady, Neo Masisi, as the keynote speaker. The event was attended by many dignities of Botswana, including the Botswana Railway Department.
Botswana Railways, led by acting CEO Chelesile Malele and accompanied by corporate services director Kgomotso Mahupela, participated in the inaugural CITF- Training, Manufacturing, Construction and Mining Expo.
In a pleasant development President of Botswana, Dr. Mokweetsi Keabetswe Masisi, graced the event in support of the event, which represented the government’s Mindset Change campaign and talked about changing how we do things as a country in order to achieve our innate potential.
