The first lady of Botswana Neo Jane Masisi visited to Zimbabwe for a three-day tour of the Museum of African Liberation in Harare.

Zimbabwe: The first lady of Botswana – Neo Jane Masisi visited to Zimbabwe for a three-day tour of the Museum of African Liberation in Harare where she underscored the need for Africans to treasure and preserve their history and heritage sites. The first lady has also toured and appreciated the National Gender-Based 575 call centre.

Reportedly, the call centre is in the office of First Lady – Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, who has personally attended callers as part of her mission, to cultivate homes that are free of violence and any other forms of abuse.

The First Lady visited the museum that includes the Museum of African Liberation, the Liberation Mall site and the Heritage Village.

The Museum of African Liberation is envisaged for the country and there will be a section of the Museum that will be only devoted to its liberation war history. The museum will showcase the stories of the sacrifices and histories of other countries.

The museum will feature the history of FRELIMO, SWAPO, MPLA and other gallant liberation parties. It will also feature massacres at Wiriamu, Maseru, and Cassinga and also victories such as the epic battle of Cuito Cunavale and Gorongoza.

The museum will also exhibit the great victories of the Mau Mau Uprisings of Kenya and the heroic defeat of the Italians at Adwa in Ethiopia. A major section of the museum will also be dedicated to the fourteen founding fathers of the African Liberation history.

Along with her host Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, Masisi appreciated the design of the museum and said that it is a world-class display and shows the great potential of Africans.

She also said that she has been to the African Liberation Heritage Site and it’s a place that says as Africans they have come far and narrated the stories that need to be told through the stories disappear.

She also mentioned that they will always be one and will continue to remain together. She said, “For myself, ideas are already running around in my mind to say what am I taking back home with me. One thing that it has shown me is, that the talent is right here.”

Masisi praised the Heritage Village and said that she is very excited about this Heritage Village place as they are seeing just how their children will use this.

“A lot of us think that as we have educated our children and raising them in the cities; we have put beside our culture and where we came from,” said Masisi.
