The Botswana Police Service is celebrating its 140th anniversary. The officials of the Police Service came together for the celebration of the Service’s longstanding legacy.
The celebration of the 140th anniversary of the Botswana Police Service was hosted over the course of two days. The day one started with the awards ceremony on Friday.
The members of the Police Service were honored for their dedication to duty with medals. The second day consisted of a number of different activities which sought to celebrate the several decades of services.
The officials have shared several images from the event on their social media. The officials have shared their pride on being a part of the service.
The event was graced by The President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi. He was accompanying the first lady of Botswana to the celebration.
The President bestowed medals on deserving police officers of different ranks. The medals included Botswana Police Long Service and Good Conduct which is awarded at 18 years of service; Botswana Police Service Jubilee given at 25years and Botswana Police Distinguished Service Order for 30 years.
The president also inspected the Guard of Honour and Ceremonial Parades on the two days respectively mounted by BPS in his honor. He was amongst the large number of Officials who celebrated this magnificent event first hand.
The event was broadcast live on Botswana Television, various government Facebook pages including BWgovernment and BPS. On the menu of activities, the spectators were served amongst others, the tug of war, callisthenics, motorcycle, band and air displays and acrobatics.
The officials have shared that the members of the community have been appreciating the Police organization for their service. It has been working diligently for the benefit of the people.
