Botswana: Botswana Police Service has donated a house to Annah Omphile in Maun in the presence of many member of the community. The handover ceremony of the house was hosted on Tuesday with the high level members of the Botswana Police Service in attendance.
The house was made with the aim of assisting the vulnerable population of the country. The beneficiary of the house donation was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for receiving the donation.
She expressed her sincere gratitude to the organization for their donation and promised to take good care of the house. The Commissioner of the Botswana Police Service, Dinah Marathe was present at the handover ceremony.
She delivered a brief address on the significance of the donation from the Botswana Police Service. She announced that the house was built under the police corporate Social Responsibility initiative. The aim of the donation was to help uplift the less privileged people of the country.
When addressing the beneficiaries, she said the house would protect them from harsh weather conditions and gives them dignity. Commissioner Marathe also pledged a new wheelchair for the beneficiary.
The Commissioner of Police Marathe also discussed the duties of the Police Service in maintaining peace and unity within the communities. The Botswana Police service has touched a milestone in community service with the donation of the house.
Notably, this was the 84th house donated countrywide in pursuit of helping the less privileged regain their dignity. Speaking during the handover ceremony, Commissioner Dinah Marathe pleaded with community members to join hands with the police to fight crime.
She also encouraged the attendants to take responsibility and report child abuse and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) incidents. She urged the people of the district to take advantage of the Maun Child-Friendly Centre.
The Commissioner said the officers are ready to go beyond the call of duty and serve the people of Maun and surrounding areas. She pledged her commitment to listening to the people of the community. He noted that the community is always affected as victims, perpetrators or witnesses.
According to the Commissioner of Police, the situation puts them in a better position to give better feedback to the police.
