Botswana Red Cross Society elects new leadership at AGA23

Botswana: The Botswana Red Cross Society hosted the 2023 Annual General Assembly and elected its new leadership. The members of the BRCS shared that the General Assembly was held in Kang on Sunday.

The Members of the Secretariat, National Executive Committee, and various sub-branches, branches, and division chairpersons participated in AGA 2023. The aim was to elect new leadership for the organization including The President and Vice President of the Organization

Further, the members discussed the future of BRCS with the new President and Vice President. Secretary General of the organisation, Kutlwano Mukokomani, delivered some remarks at the start of the General Assembly. He talked about the various achievements that the organisation has recorded during the year.

Further, he discussed the challenges that the Red Cross Society has faced. Afterwards, he also informed the members of the general assembly what initiatives BRCS plans to undertake in 2024.

According to the update shared by the organization on their social media account, the members have adopted and endorsed these initiatives. The organization also shared many images from the national assembly sitting and the election process.

The authorities added that they conducted the election according to the new constitution which was adopted in the Annual General Assembly of the previous year (2022). The new constitution of the BRCS is completely in alignment with the International Federation of Red Cross.

The election committee and members of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) were present to oversee elections. They were important to make sure that the execise concludes in fairness and impartiality.

At the end of the 2023 Annual General Assembly, the organization elected Otshidile Patience Tshegetsang as Vice President. Meanwhile Odirile Otto Itumeleng was chosen as the President of Botswana Red Cross society.

After the election, President Itumeleng thanked the BRCS members for their support. He promised that he will fulfill his duties to the organization.

The team is eagerly waiting to work with the newly elected President and Vice President of the Botswana Red Cross Society. General Secretary promised that they will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the vulnerable population.

The Secretary General presented certificates to the outgoing Board for their incredible commitment and significant impact in the humanitarian sphere.
