South Africa: Umlazi District Director, Busi Mahlambi held a Principal’s meeting on Tuesday. The officials of the KwaZulu Natal Department of Education shared glimpses of the event.
The principal’s meeting was hosted at the Northwood High School. The aim of the meeting was to strengthen the support to all the schools of the district. Further, the meeting also sought to update all schools on current and on forthcoming developments in the district.
The Umlazi District Director applauded all the schools for their good performance in 2023 NSC results. Further, during the meeting, she called on working together as a District. She believes that the approach will ensure that they achieve all the priorities set by the Department.
Further, she believes that they also want to ensure that there is Improvement in the class of 2024.
“We are here to give clarity and guidance in terms of where to from now. Celebration is over and work is upon us. Principals, you need to make sure as leaders of the schools that those schools become the centre of excellence.” said the District Director
Umlazi District is performing well and is currently on an upward trajectory. Accordingly, they are interacting with stakeholders and getting their input for the buy-in of their strategy. The strategy is used to ensure that the district receives all the support.
The district recounted that their strengths are in the that the officials of the district have necessary requisite expertise. Further they claimed that schools welcome all the support, teachers are willing to provide quality teaching and learning.
The principals of schools also monitor and support the work being done by the other stakeholders. Strengthening the processes of schools’ leadership management and governance systems enables schools to achieve their strategic goals.
Further, the District Director Busi Mahlambi said it also helps ensure that all basic functionality is effective and efficient.
The principal’s meeting aims to Increase the number of grade 12 learners who pass with a bachelor pass. The stakeholders want to ensure that more students are performing well and are eligible for bachelor programmes at the university.
Further, the goals of the initiative include:
- Ensure that learners cover all the topics and skills they should cover within their current school year.
- Ensure that the basic annual management processes occur across all districts in a way that contributes towards a functional school environment.
