Cameroon: The president of Cameroon, Paul Biya, is organizing the annual General Assembly Meeting (AGM) of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM). The event will be hosted on October 30, 2023, and will start at 11:00 PM. The Tripartite Hall of the Conference Centre in Yaounde will serve as the venue for the initiative.
The Chancellor of the Academic Orders will preside over the official opening ceremony of the Annual General Assembly Meeting (AGM). Accordingly, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, shared a post on his social media which featured several details about the event.
According to the officials, the president of Cameroon is supporting the initiative for the benefit of the country. He is conducting the event under his own patronage. The said AGM is being held under the theme “Transforming Higher Education to sustainably feed and create prosperity for Africa.”
The people of Cameroon have shared their excitement to see the general meeting come to fruition under the patronage of President Paul Biya. It will serve as a platform to discuss several important measures that the authorities can take to strengthen the country’s education capacity.
RUFORUM is a consortium of African universities with an outstanding enrolment of more than 170 universities in at least 40 African countries. The organization aims to consolidate the capacity of Universities to respond effectively to the legitimate demands of farmers, pastoralists, forestry, fisheries, etc.
They seek to do this through tailored academic and professional training, and University research applied to the economic, social and cultural development of the population.
With the advent of the entrepreneurial university and the status of the student entrepreneur inherent in the Higher Education Orientation Law promulgated by the Head of State on July 25, 2023, the Cameroonian University is firmly committed to this path of the future.
