Zambia: Zambian champions Power Dynamos this afternoon needs to overturn a 2-1 deficit at home against African Stars at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola if they are to continue playing in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League. Aba Yellow lost 2-1 to African Stars in the first round, first leg match at Dobsonville stadium in Johannesburg and need nothing but an assuring win against the Namibians in a make-or-break tie. Tickets for this afternoon's match are available from as low as K5 at all Shoprite stores via CompuTicket. If the score is 2-1 in favour of Power Dynamos, the game will be tied 3-3 on aggregate, and the match will go straight to penalties. That is something Coach Mwenya Chipepo will want to avoid and will mostly task the Andy Boyeli led striking force to do the job in 90 minutes and keep the 1991 African Cup Winners' Cup champion's interests in this year's competition alive. Goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga is likely to be retained in goal, with Kondwani Chiboni, former Kabwe Warriors defender Dominic Chanda, Faustin Bakodila and John Soko making the back four. Former ZANACO midfielder Salulani Phiri looked decent in the first leg and would want to continue on his form with Joshua Mutale, Owen Tembo, Godfrey Ngwenya or Cephas Mulombwa supporting the project. Linos Makwaza Jr., Thomas Chideu and Beby Musangala are also strong options. Their opponents, African Stars, under their Ghanian coach Prince-George Koffie, have assembled a cocktail of players, including former NAPSA Stars' man Joseph Lungu, who shows up for the Namibians. Former Lusaka Dynamos winger Willy Stephanus will also have something to say in his 'second' home. The winners of this tie are set to play Simba Sports Club of Tanzania in the second round in September 2023.
