Ceres Rail organises another coach for a trip to Simon’s Town

Ceres Rail Company is organising a trip to Simon’s Town, this coming Sunday on May 19, 2024. The company has made another coach available and added more seats to the journey due to the popularity of it.

Ceres Rail’s historic passenger steam locomotive ensures the unique and memorable experience. On board the travellers can enjoy the fully licensed bar and a dining car that offers great coffee and delicious snacks as they leisurely coast along.

Simon’s Town is a great place to explore and indulge in a leisurely lunch. The town is filled with the peruse local museums before they head on the journey back.

According to the Day Sitter Seating, the tickets for the trip ranges from R575 for the adults and will cost R450 for the children. R500 will be charged for the pensioners who are of age 60 and above.

For a Family Coupe seating R1650 will be charged for the unit consisting of Maximum 3-adults and one child. Another family seating compartment unit will cost R3150 which includes maximum 6 adults.

The Bar Lounge seating offers R799 per seat consisting no one under the age of 18. Another Lounge seating offers per seat in R799. The observation Car seating will cost R899 per seat.

The travellers can embark on a nostalgic journey with the Atlantic Rail as they will run on a newly re-introduced experience to Simon’s Town.


The train will depart from the Harbour Bridge Platform, AC Marriot Hotel, Cape Town. The rail adventure promises a delightful 3-hour trip through the Cape landscape considering both urban, rural and sea-side, to the charming seaside town of Simon’s Town.

The historic passenger train will be pulled by a steam locomotive that ensures a unique experience. On board the travellers will discover a fully licensed bar and a dining car that offers coffee and delectable snacks. For the better convenience the rail also provides card payment options, under which the facilities are available.

Upon reaching the Simon’s Town as anticipated between 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the travellers will have an ample time to explore the town and indulge in a leisurely lunch and peruse the local museums.

Notably, the station is a short 800-meter walk from the heart of town that offers a delightful stroll. There are also alternative means of transport available at the station such as TukTuks, shuttles, mini-buses and others.

As the day unfolds, it is a bid farewell to Simon’s Town at 2:30 p.m. bringing all back to Cape Town by approximately at 6:00 p.m. No one can miss on this exceptional adventure which is a great opportunity to rediscover the allure of Simon’s Town.
