The water crisis has been affecting the livelihoods of the people. This is because some parts of the district are still facing the challenges of having no water supply since the time the water pump got damaged last year in December.

The people of the country have been sharing their grievances on the issue and demanding that the authorities find a solution. Some affected residents of the Chavuma District have come forward to share their grievances

One of the many affected residents, Clara Chinjongo, said the situation has continued, and the district has an erratic water supply. This is despite the rapid increase in suspected cholera cases in the area.

The same resident, Chinjongo expressed fears that many lives will be lost in a situation. This is because there is no safe and clean water. Meanwhile, the suspected cholera cases are increasing on a daily basis.

She further added that people in the district have resorted to fetching water from the Zambezi River. In an effort to get water, many residents are risking their lives on a daily basis as the River is highly infested with crocodiles.

However, NWWSCO supervisor, Kelvin Mkandawire has offered an explanation on the situation. He attributed the erratic water problem to a water pump that has outlived its lifespan.

He announced that the organization is making efforts to rectify the situation. Mkandawire, said his company is supplying the commodity to the people at 50 percent as the other 50 percent is being rectified.

The NWWSCO supervisor, Kelvin Mkandawire, however, said a new water pump has been bought, and despite overheating, it will be installed this week.

The authorities are working around the clock to rectify the situation.
