Female civil servants from the different sectors of the Karonga District Council donated assorted items to the Children’s Ward at Karonga District Hospital. The district officials have shared that the donated items included soap, sugar and snacks.
The members of the community have shared that the hospital is delighted by the donation of the public servants. The officials have shared that the hospital feels supported by the donation extended by the people of the country.
The Chairperson for the Women of Substance Mercy Sichali said that members made individual contributions to raise money for buying the items.
“The items have been distributed to young patients and their guardians including nurses on duty so that they join others in celebrating Christmas although they are hospitalized,” said Sichali.
The members of the community have applauded the women for their donation to the hospital premises. The donation will help them in making sure that the people of the country can access quality healthcare.
Healthcare is one of the most important mandates of the country’s administration. The officials have shared that it is important for the communities to have access to support in healthcare facilities.
One of the guardians Christina Kanyika of Mwanganda Village in the area of Paramount Chief Kyungu spoke at the reception of the donation. She applauded the said that she was grateful for the women’s gesture.
“Receiving gifts from fellow women means a lot to me because I know that they empathized with our situation and may God bless them for this noble course,” said Kanyika.
David Sibale Director of Health Services at Karonga District Council, has appreciated the group of civic employees. Their donation has helped in cheering up the children admitted at the hospital.
“These children will spend Christmas celebration in the hospital, away from their families and friends, this donation will help bring them joy, comfort, and a sense of normalcy during the holiday season,” said Sibale.
