Zimbabwe: A couple from Hurungwe has died after their hut was struck by lightning. Whereas, their three children were mysteriously thrown out and they survived.
As per the sources, the man identified as Tozivepi Jenami and his seven month pregnant wife Aneno Mutikani of Muindisi Village in Hurungwe District were in a hut when lightning struck on Feb 27, 2024 around 5:00 p.m.
Tozivepi and pregnant wife Aneno fell unconscious after the bolt struck and their three children were mysteriously thrown out of the hut.
Reportedly, after some time they have gained their consciousness anAs per the sources, the man who is identified as Tozivepi Jenami and his seven month pregnant wife Aneno Mutikani of Muindisi Village in Hurungwe District were in a hut when lightning struck one of the children went to check on his parents.
The child found then unconscious and made arrangements to take them to hospital to get the medical assistance. However, they were declared dead upon arrival.
As per the reports, three dogs near the hut also died on the spot.
National Police Spokesperson of Mashonaland West Province Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident and said that they can confirm the death of Tozivepi Jenami and his wife Aneno Mutikani.
Inspector Kohwera also confirmed regarding the duration of the incident and stated, “A lightning bolt struck the family hut at around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb 27, 2024.”
Considering the depth of the incident the inspector also confirmed that ‘the parents died while the children were thrown out of the hut. One of the children gained consciousness and checked on his parents.”
The inspector added that “the child there found his parents unconscious and somehow managed to arrange to take them to Karoi for medical attention.”
As per the reports, the couple was buried with a proper ceremony on Saturday, March 02, 2024. May their soul rest in peace.
The village has reported many such incidents earlier, too, but the officials and government have not taken caution yet. Earlier a son and a father was also killed due to the very dangerous lightning electrocution.
