Dominica and Gabon forge diplomatic ties with Joint Communique signing

Dominica: On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Gabonese Republic established diplomatic relations by signing a Joint Communique. This event involved the participation of Dominica's Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy Minister, Dr Vince Henderson, and Mr Hermann Immogault, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Gabonese Republic.

Dominica: On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Gabonese Republic established diplomatic relations by signing a Joint Communique. This event involved the participation of Dominica’s Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy Minister, Dr Vince Henderson, and Mr Hermann Immogault, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Gabonese Republic.

The signing ceremony between both countries was held at the High Commission of the Republic of Gabon in London. Minister Henderson reiterated that the Commonwealth of Dominica is committed to establishing strong and long-lasting relationships of friendship with Gabon, as well as with the other countries in Africa.

Minister Henderson gave his assurance to Minister Immogault that this marks the start of a fresh alliance between Dominica and Gabon and expressed his enthusiasm for both nations to create collaborations and work together in fields that they both find significant, including investment, tourism, energy initiatives, and the development of more sustainable environments.

They both also committed to each other to deepen their relations by signing a Visa Wavier Agreement in September 2023 on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly.

Minister Henderson took the opportunity to congratulate Gabon, he stated, “Hello to the wonderful people of the Grand Bay Constituency. I am currently in London on state business, where I had the opportunity to sign a communique with the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Gabonese Republic, H.E. Herman Immogault establishing diplomatic relations between Dominica and the Gabonese Republic.”

Furthermore, he said, “Dominica’s international relations are intended to advance our domestic interest. The way we relate to the world, with whom we connect, and how we relate are based on the advancement of the strategic national interests of our country.

He also gave this news via his official Twitter account, saying, “The Government of Dominica established diplomatic relations with the Government of the Gabonese Republic. From investment to tourism promotion, it presents opportunities for rich cooperation. We look forward to September & the signing of a Visa Waiver Agreement.”
