St Kitts and Nevis: Denzil Douglas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in St Kitts and Nevis met with Enrique A. Manalo last week. Manalo serves as the Secretary for Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Philippines. The meeting was hosted in St Kitts and Nevis during the 28th regular meeting of COFCOR. The meeting took place on May 8 and May 9, 2025
St Kitts and Nevis and Philippines have completed 25 years of diplomatic ties with each other. This milestone was also celebrated during the meeting of Minister Douglas and Secretary Manalo
During the COFCOR event, ministers of Foreign Affairs and other officials from across the Caribbean took the platform to further their international relationships
Minister Denzil Douglas gave the the Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Philippines a warm welcome into his office. he also shared some images from the meeting on his social media account where he said that he was honored to meet Manalo.
The Minister highlighted that he found the meeting to be most enlightening and cordial. He also reflected on the 25 year history that exists between the two nations.
Minister Douglas said that St Kitts and Nevis enjoys friendly ties with Philippines
During the meeting, they discussed ways of deepening their relationship for more collaboration and support
Minister Douglas said that the two nations enjoy strong bilateral ties. They are working together to take the relationship even further in the coming years.
Their discussion covered a lot of ground about the various international issues and developments.Climate resilience was one of the discussed topics. The twin island nation has also been a vocal advocate for climate action and climate resilience
They also spoke about national and international security and extended a call for peace all over the world.The leaders concluded the meeting and promised to improve their working relationship and find more collaboration opportunities.
Minister Dr Denzil Douglas said that he was grateful to have the opportunity for this interaction. Notably, Philippines is nominating themselves for the non-permanent seat on UNSC for the tenure of 2027-2028.
The people also congratulated the twin islands and Philippines on completing 25 years of bilateral relations.
