First-ever Amphibious Duck Tour to launch in Cape Town

Cape Town: The City to start first-ever amphibious duck tour. The launch ceremony of the tour will be observed on July 31, 2024. It is a great initiative by the Waterfront Duck Company.

Marking the first ever opening of the Duck Tour, journalist John Maytham spoke to the founder and coo-owner of the Waterfront Duck Company – Keith Lindsay. When asked what is a Duck tour?

The owner replied that there are tours that take place on purpose, and are built as amphibious tour buses and as surplus amphibious vehicles such as DUKWs and LARC-Vs.

“These are really a major attraction for the tourists and locals and the first of its kind and is coming to Cape Town on 31st July 2024,” said Lindsay.

He expressed that it is South Africa’s first amphibious bus that will take people on tours of both Cape town’s CBD and the V&A Marina and Victoria Basin.

Lindsay said further in the interview that it took him 16-years to get his administrative and legal ‘ducks in a row’ to make this idea a reality.

As per the explanation by Keith Lindsay, the tours will last about an hour as a third of it will take place on land and two-thirds of the tour will happen on water with a live tour guide providing some history about the passing views around the city’s CBD, Bo-Kaap, De Waterkant, Waterfront, V&A Marina, under the Bascule Bridge and as well as considering the other areas around the harbour wall.

Plenty of information can be found at the Duck Tour Company, located at the V&A Waterfront. The duck tour’s will cost R395 for adults and R295 for kids aged-12 and under. R95 will be charged for kids under three years old.

“We think it’s going to be super interesting and the experience is going to be an attraction for locals and tourists,” said Keith Lindsay, founder of Waterfront Duck Company.
