Gaborone: CCP projects launched in Bonnington North

The government of Botswana has launched Constituency Community Projects in Gaborone Bonnington North Constituency.

Botswana: The government of Botswana has launched Constituency Community Projects in Gaborone Bonnington North Constituency. The initiative was launched by Minister of Labour and Home Affairs Annah Mokgethi and Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mabuse Pule.

Through the project, they have taken the initiative to promote the economic growth of the capital city. The launch event was attended by several members of the government who were happy with the development. Some attendants included:

  • Gaborone West customary court President Kgosi Arnold Somolokae
  • Gaborone City Deputy Mayor Oduetse Tautona
  • Moselewapula Ward Councillor Honourable Resego Thamage

All the attendants shared their delight at the launch of the initiative.

Minister Mokgethi asserted that the CCP program aims to stimulate the economy by creating jobs for the people of Gaborone. The minister said that the government wants to make sure every Motswana is included in its pillar to sustainable economic development.

She asked the authorities to ensure that the project can be implemented as the government intends. She urged the stakeholders to employ the youngsters of Gaborone to ensure quality and empowerment.

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mabuse Pule also talked about the initiative. He asserted that the implementation of infrastructure projects helps create employment.

He added that the creation of employment helps improve the community’s livelihood.

Minister Pule informed attendants of the launch event that the community has identified prioritized projects to be implemented through CCP. The projects have been chosen through the consultative process.

Minister Pule advised contractors to ensure they deliver quality work for the benefit of Batswana.

Gaborone West customary court President Kgosi Arnold Somolokae was also present at the launch event of the CCP. He delivered a brief address at the event and shared his appreciation for the development of the city.

Somolokae commended Moselewapula residents for the choice of their project. He acknowledged that the paving of roads has proven to be a sustainable initiative throughout the country.

Finally, during his address, Kgosi Somolekae applauded councillors and Ward Development Committees. He stated that community consultation allows for better decision-making.

Gaborone City Deputy Mayor Oduetse Tautona expressed gratitude for having been able to launch paving projects in Gaborone Bonnington North Constituency. The Deputy Mayor said despite challenges, the City Council is always willing to do its mandate to serve the residents of Gaborone.

He called on the community to join hands and assist the Council in delivering its mandate. He appealed to those given the responsibility to implement these projects to hire locals for community empowerment.

Finally, Moselewapula Ward Councillor Resego Thamage thanked all stakeholders who contributed towards the development of the ward and constituency as a whole.
