Guy Whittall proves to be fortunate again, dog Chikara saves him by fighting a leopard

Zimbabwe: Former cricket player Guy Whittall was attacked by the leopard but managed to save himself. He and his dog cheated death by fighting off the wild animal.

The leopard left him bloodied and in need of emergency surgery. Whittall, aged 51 was badly attacked by the big cat while he was out with his dog Chikara, who was also bitten by the wild creature as he tried to save his master.

Reportedly, Wife of the Zimbabwean player posted the dramatic images of the latest attack on social media, showing how Guy is being treated in the bush by medics with bandages on his head, before he was shifted to Milton Park Hospital in Harare.

Wife, Hannah Stooks Whittall added that her husband had lost a lot of blood, but was saved by faithful K9 Chikara, who was mauled by the leopard getting the cat of Guy.

Later a picture was shown, in which Guy Whittall in the hospital gave a thumbs up with his head and hands which were still bandaged. On this, Hannah wrote, “He had come out of theatre with his wounds completely cleaned and restitched.”

Hannah mentioned that Guy is really a lucky man, first he had the crocodile and now the leopard, he really is the cat with nine lives.”

She added that he was fortunate enough that their dog Chikara was there to help him and get the leopard off him, otherwise who knows how it might have ended.

“We are so grateful to him and Chikara is going to get some extra chicken as a treat. He has got to see the vet as he has a few scratches and but he should be okay and is in better shape than Guy,” said wife Hannah.

As per the latest reports, Guy is up in bed and talking, he is telling anyone who will listen how he wrestled with a leopard but we all know it was down to Chikara.

It is not for the first time that Whittall had a brush with a wild animal. Back in 2013, he hit the headlines after the pictures of 300lbs and a, 8-feet long crocodile was found sleeping under his bed, while he was still in it.

The reptile sneaked into his lodge and spent the entire night lying quietly, there. It was a Nile crocodile, But Guy Whittall had managed to stay hidden for more than eight hours overnight.

It was fortuitous that both times, the former Zimbabwean cricketer managed to save himself and said hi to life again and again.

The Ex-Chevrons all-rounder is best remembered for his unbeaten 1997 double century of 203 not out against the New Zealand and was attacked while trekking through the conservancy he runs at Humani in Save.

At present, the player runs the Safari which is based at the junction of the Turgwe and Save rivers in the South East part of the country with his father.
