Saint Lucia: The National Emergency Management Agency of Saint Lucia has been monitoring the Hurricane Beryl. The team is constantly sharing the latest updates and findings regarding the weather of the country.

The Hurricane Beryl is approaching the Windwards Islands at a fast pace. The Meteorological office, and the office of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia have urged the members to remain cautious.

The Prime Minister of the country, Philip J Pierre addressed the people, asking them to take all the necessary steps to protect lives and property. The Prime Minister attended the Pre Strike Meeting of the National Emergency Management Advisory Committee (NEMAC).

The meeting was convened by the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Dr Ernest Hilaire in the absence of PM Pierre. The meeting was convened to check on the readiness of the country with respect to preventive measures.

The MET office has forcasted that Hurricane Beryl can potentially turn into a category three hurricane by the time it affects Saint Lucia. The chairperson of the NEMA, PM Pierre assured the people that the major response organizations are ready.

The Police, Fire Service and Health infrastructure of the country has assured that they are ready to provide emergency response.

The meeting was hosted on Saturday where the Government and other organisations activated their emergency machinery. PM Pierre has asked the people of the country to remain informed about the various new developments.

He addressed the members of the community ahead of the national shutdown of the country in effect from 8:30 pm on Sunday. Under the  national shutdown, the country will remain closed for the safety of the nationals under the weather conditions,

Further, the Prime Minister announced that the schools of the nation will be closed on Monday along with the various businesses of the country.

The Prime Minister firther promised that he would continue to provide the people further information. Further, another meting of the NEMO will be convened at 10:00 AM on Sunday to go through the preparedness of the country further.
