Ikelenge district Man crushed to death by tree falling on him

A 45 year old man of Ikelenge district in North Western province has died on the spot after a tree he was cutting fell on him.

Zambia: A 45 year old man of Ikelenge district in North Western province has died on the spot after a tree he was cutting fell on him. The accident happened in the farm of the victim where he was working. The tree allegedly which  the tree fell on him and crushed his head.

The victim has been identified as Misheck Mashau of Sakampogu village in Chief Nyakaseya’s Chiefdom. The victim was allegedly accompanying his wife in cutting the trees on Saturday in the field.

They had been working together when the tree fell on him and killed him instantly. The North Western Province Police Commanding Officer confirmed the incident in front of the media.

He also shared the details of the incident with the media and claimed that they have  concluded the investigation into the matter. According to the Commanding officer, The incident occurred on 18th May, 2024 between 10:00 hours and 11:00 hours.

The victim and his wife were in Saluzhinga area Chief Nyakaseya in District Ikelenge. Further the commanding officer noted that the incident was reported on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 14:00 hours.

The person who made the report of the accident with the media has been identified as Muke Kenson aged 43. He is also a resident of the village Kalonda in Saluzhinga area in Chief Nyakaseya’s Chiefdom in Ikelenge district.

According to the reports shared by the police officer, the deceased went to the field with his wife at around 8:00 Hours in the morning. They further started cutting a tree and when the tree was about to fall, it fell on him.

Moola stated that the body has been deposited at Kalene Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting burial. The Police does not suspect any foul play in the incident. Further, it has also been established that the body would not be sent for further investigation.

No members of the family have come forward to push for further investigation into the matter.
