Zimbabwe: The armed robbers raided a local company on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at night and stole more than US $120,000 cash and are amid suspicion that most of these robberies involve the insiders.
Recently, in this month of April, several companies have lost various amounts of cash to the robbers who are raiding their premises, especially during the night.
As per the reports submitted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), it is to be believed that some of the employees or people are closely associated with the most of these companies which are supplying criminals with the inside information.
Reportedly, on a Sunday night, more than six armed robbers raided the company and also attacked the security guards manning the premises before stealing the cash that was kept in a safe.
The National Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner – Paul Nyathi confirmed that the investigation in relation to the incident is still in progress, and the cash will be kept at the company, following the sales between Friday and Sunday.
Spokesperson Paul Nyathi said, “We have been recording most of these cases in which large amounts of cash are being stolen and we strongly believe that there is an element of inside information from the staff or from some people closely associated with the company.”
The assistant commissioner also mentioned that for such cases to happen, some people themselves release the information to the criminals or there is a leakage of information.
“We would, however, like to urge the companies to step up their security at their premises and also to avoid keeping large amounts of cash,” said ZRP assistant commissioner Paul Nyathi.
Considerably, in the related matter, the Harare police is investigating the cases in which the armed robbers are stealing US $28,000 cash in separate incidents over the weekend.
Following the other one case, the robbers have stole more than US $6,400 from a company in Harare, whereas on the second incident, the criminals have robbed a motorist and stole US $22,000 after blocking his vehicle.
