Zambia: Isoka District has a new batch of recruited teachers for the schools and educational institutions in the areas. The district has been given 51 newly recruited teachers who have since been posted to various schools across the district.
The school and education stakeholders have been urging for the recruitment of new teachers to fill the gaps that have been forming due to teacher student ratio mismatch. The number of students being handled by a single teacher in the district is over 50 which is not conducive for the quality of teaching.
The recruitment of these 51 teachers are part of the over 4,000 teachers recently recruited by the government. The aim of these new recruitments is to help in improving the delivery of education services across the country, especially in rural areas.
Even after much efforts from the part of the Ministry, rural education continues to lag behind its urban counterpart. The new hiring initiative aims to bring the educational facilities to all the schools and students across the region.
Isoka District Commissioner Jairo Simbeye spoke to the newly appointed teachers at the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) office. The address was made when these new teachers came to collect their appointment letters and begin their duty.
The teachers were encouraged to work hard and give their best to their new duties as the providers of education to the students Simbeye also congratulated the teachers on their appointment.
He then urged them to focus on the positives of their deployment, which he said could be life-changing. He also added that the teachers must work on their duties with the right mindset.
He called on the new teachers to make sure that they are using the resources of the district they are sent to. The new teachers can also take advantage of the land in the district and engage in extra activities such as farming to supplement their income.
He further advised the teachers to remain disciplined, save money, and invest wisely while serving in the district.
