Botswana: The Jwaneng Mine is getting ready to host the GM’s Soccer Fiesta. The event will be organized over the course of three days, starting August 2. In light of the game’s popularity, the organizers have extended an invitation to the fans.
The organizers are confident that the 3 day event will bring a lot of soccer lovers to the venue to support the teams. The tournament promises a spectacular showdown as football giants clash in the battle for glory and cash prices.
The Jwaneng Mine officials have been organizing the event annually to give the local talents of the nation an opportunity to come forward and show their talent. The leadership of the Jwaneng Mine announced the details of the initiative during a media interaction.
The most recent press conference in this regard was held in Lekidi. The spokesperson, Keletso Tshekiso announced the teams who will be playing in the tournament on Saturday.
The lineup includes:
- Extension Gunners,
- Traffic FC ,
- Jwaneng Galaxy and
- Notwane FC
The champion of the tournament will walk away with a cash prize of P75 000.00.
The tournament will kick start with the ladies team on Friday afternoon. The first match of the tournament will be played between Jwaneng Mine female Managers against Jwaneng Township female Managers,
Next, Granada FC from Selebi Phikwe will lock horns with Jwaneng Galaxy. The winners of the first day of the tournament will walk away with P55 000.00
Further, The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the clash of social clubs from zones of influence. The teams will include:
Toocha Number (Mabutsane),
Kanye Masters,
Mathaithai (Moshupa),
Bajanala (Jwaneng) also eying the P19 000.00 cash prize for the champion.
The main aim of the tournament is to raise funds for the advancement of football and to grow the economy of Jwaneng town. Further, Tshekiso also indicated that the tournament will also highlight th creative sector.
The tournament will feature local entertainment giants such as Charma girl and Chokoma.
