Kano State: CoP Mohammed Usaini Gumel hosts lecture for command officers

Mohammed Usaini Gumel is working with Kano Police Commands and Formations to implement the Inspector-General of Police Zero Tolerance Policy

Kano: Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has instructed all Police Commands and Formations to implement the Inspector-General of Police Zero Tolerance Policy. They are urged to have zero tolerance on all forms of: 

  • Human Rights Abuses, 
  • Corrupt Practices, 
  • Inappropriate Behavior of Police Officers on Highways, 

In line with this, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, PSC, organized lectures for Officers and Men. These were attended by the members of the Departments of Operation and Criminal Investigation of the Command on November 1, 2023. 

The Commissioner of Police also directed the Commands Public Relations Officer to continue with robust media engagements for public enlightenment and sensitization on peace and peaceful coexistence. 

Further, during the lectures, they provided the public with the command’s emergency contacts and the channels for lodging complaints against the actions and inaction of Command Officers.   

In his lecture with Officers and Men of the Department of Operations, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, ably represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operation Department, DCP Ahmad Umar Chusu, appreciated the Officers’ efforts in crime fighting. 

Afterwards, he stated that “Discipline is the bedrock of Nigeria Police Force, continue to be committed in discharging duties. You must appear neat in uniform, maintain alertness on duty, be professional and shun all corrupt practices and human rights abuses while discharging your constitutional responsibility.

In his lecture with Officers and Men of the Department of Criminal Investigation, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, was ably represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Abubakar Abdullahi. 

He stated that Officers should be professional, civil to members of the public, and diligent in investigation and prosecution. They must avoid all forms of corruption and respect the fundamental rights of citizens while conducting experiments. 

Finally, he reminded the officers of the operational principles of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, which are professionalism, zero tolerance for corruption and open door policy.
