Kenya: Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), officers participated in the 5th National Drama, Beauty Pageant, Visual Arts and Film Festival, Awards Gala, organized by the Kenya Universities Performing Arts Association (KUPAA), at the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, on Friday 10th November 2023.

This year’s theme was’ Supporting Economic Transformation Through Performing Arts. ‘ The event brought together participants and representatives from public and private universities across the country.

The Kenya Film Commission (KFC) Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Owase, presided over the Awards Gala.

KFCB supported the gala by providing co-branded certificates that were awarded to the various participants and winners in various categories. This support was in line with our corporate social responsibility (CSR) under our corporate social investment (CSI).

KFCB is committed to supporting initiatives geared towards talent identification, nurturing, commercialization and monetization in line with the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) for job and wealth creation.

The Kenya Film Commission, led by the CEO who was the Chief Guest, graced the gala closing ceremony of the 5th edition of the National Universities Drama, Beauty Pageant, Visual Arts and Film Festival under the Kenya Universities Performing Arts and Film Association (KUPAA) that was held last evening at DeKUT in Nyeri county.

In his remarks, Owase emphasized the promotion, protection, enhancement and development of the interests of all persons directly or indirectly related to film, music, theatre and television networks, which include actors, all types of film, theatre and television producers, directors, writers, poets, music composers, music producers, musicians, technicians and all other relevant partners.

He added that the Commission is working to ensure the growth of the film industry and is working closely with other stakeholders to support the creative industry.

He encouraged the youth to take advantage of the Arts and all relevant platforms, especially film, to tell their authentic stories and congratulated all the winners.
