Kenya Sports Ministry prioritizes 2024 Olympics

Kenya: The Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Sports et al., Ababu Namwamba, met the National Olympics Committee (NOC), Kenya Olympics officials to a meeting, The team was led by President Paul Tergat and SG Francis Mutuku. The meeting is significant because there are only 200 days left for the global sports event, the 2024 Paris Olympics, to start.

The meeting of the Sports Cabinet Secretary and the National Olympics Committee is considered an important development. This is because the government is investing heavily in the sports sector of the country. Cabinet Secretary Namwamba interacts regularly with the sports stakeholders of the country.

The meeting, which took place on Monday, was aimed towards getting an idea of how far the preparations have come for the upcoming 2024 Olympics. The Ministry shared glimpses of the meeting on their official social media.

According to the update shared by the ministry,  Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba was happy with the progress of the team. The CS expressed confidence in the preparations this far while he was receiving the progress report.

He appreciated the committee on behalf of the government and his ministry.  Meanwhile, CS Ababu shared that the 2024 Olympics are the Ministry’s top priority this calendar year.

“This is the Kenya Kwanza Government and the Ministry’s maiden Olympics. We would like to inform the country that we will be heading into the 2024 Olympics fully prepared more than ever before,” he noted.

Highlighting challenges that have previously preoccupied and affected international outings, the CS reiterated that both NOCK and the ministry were keen on ensuring logistic issues,  travel and Visa, accommodation, and pre-game training among others, were all catered for in good time.

“200 days is such a short time left. We declare full and timely support that will power a successful outing for both our solo and team acts in Paris,” he further noted.
