Kisumu, Kenya: Nyalenda Young Turks, a Community-based Organization in partnership with Triggerise Kenya, has created Tiko Health Centres under the recently launched Tiko Project. Through this Project, the organization has taken a significant step to bring health facilities to the community.
The community-based Organisation at Kisumu Nyalenda Young Turks aims to promote education and health for girl children especially. The recently launched Tiko Project is funded by the Tiko Kenya Community.
Tiko Council Mayor Peter Ikome Mesoso III, has been honoured for his influential contribution to the development of the community.
He has also been awarded at the Krystal Palace Hotel, Douala, as the Best Mayor for the South West region for the year 2022 on Thursday, November 9th, 2023.
The Recently launched Tiko Project, funded by Tiko Kenya, is a free Membership club that gives access to free health services & more. The Tiko Medical Clinics, the local Community in Kisumu, Kenya, can have the free access to health and wellness Facilities. The Project aims to spread awareness for people to care for their Mental, Social and Physical health.
With the effective partnership of Nyalenda Young Turks and Triggers Kenya under the Tiko project, they have managed to create 7 Tiko centres within Tiko health facilities :
1. Kolwa central (Molem Medical & Eurocity ) 45 girls in each centre.
2. Kondele ( Gedian ) with 45 girls .
3. Kondele, st Vincent with 51 girls.
5. Holo ( at Holo Kadawa ) with 65 girls.
6. Manyatta B. At Manyatta Medical with 52 girls.
7. Nyalenda A at Kowino Health Centre. We have 45 girls
This quarter, their focus has been on building self-esteem, Improving communication skills, mental health & referral for such services & information.
The focus next quarter is to introduce the economic Empowerment model for each centre across our wards. The organization will also introduce a positive behaviour change film to promote access to information.
