Botswana: Kweneng District Council has been allocated three (3) new primary schools under the transitional national budget for the year 2024-25. Two of the new schools will be built at Legonono and Lekgwapheng wards in Molepolole.
The final school allocated in the budget will be constructed and another one in Kopong village. The members of the community are dedicated to the development of the education sector of the community.
The new schools will help accommodate an increased number of students. Accordingly, the district’s youngsters will have the opportunity to be educated in the newly constructed schools.
According to the administration of the Kweneng District Council, these new schools will be built through the Developer Manager (DM) model. The model has been implemented through the Ministry of Transport and Public Works
Meanwhile, the administration clarified that the Construction will be done by a company called DEVMCO Botswana. The Ministry of Transport and Public Works was responsible for contracting the team for the construction.
Developer Manager (DEVMCO) made a presentation to the District Council Technical team on the proposed designs of the new primary schools. The presentation ceremony was hosted on Thursday which included the conceptual development and concluded with a brief overview of the technical documentation done to deliver a high performance school.
The DEVMCO presenter emphasised that a good design has the potential to positively influence children’s behaviour. Therefore by incorporating thoughtful design elements, they can create environments that inspire children to be more engaged, curious and motivated and therefore reduces chances of bullying and pupil misbehavior.
After the presentation, the KwDC Technical team was given the opportunity to ask questions and make comments. The stakeholders were given an overview of the construction process for all the schools.
In concluding the meeting, the Technical Team agreed with the Consultants that they would give them the final feedback as they have to go and consult other stakeholders. The primary schools are to be constructed soon.
