South Africa: The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education came together for the second day of a Capacity-Building Workshop. The workshop was hosted for Natural Sciences Subject Advisors and Senior Phase Educators in Ugu District.
The organization has shared that the workshop was hosted in collaboration with the University of Zululand which has been helping the education department organize several capacity building initiatives. The university of Zululand also sent some of their experts in order to support the capacity building workshop.
Nokuthula Xulu and Dr. Charles Mthethwa attended the workshop on behalf of the University of Zululand. The experts organised the practical demonstrations and group discussions focused on the periodic table in Natural Sciences.
The teachers who attended this workshop will have access to several new learning tools and methods which will help and support learner development. The officials have shared that the workshop wants to increase the knowledge of the students and the teachers in all segments.
This workshop according to theim is designed to enhance both content knowledge and pedagogical expertise. The organizers have shared that they want to equip the participating teachers with knowledge regarding the latest curriculum developments.
This will make sure that the teachers can continue to work with these students and give them quality education that aligns with the needs of the people. The officials who have organized the workshop want to strengthen instructional leadership.,
The KwaZulu Natal Department of Education wants to act as a catalyst in high-impact, district-wide professional development. The workshop was hosted for Grade 4-9 teachers to encourage them to move away from traditional means and explore better teaching methods.
Participants of the workshop had the opportunity to become part of many interactive activities and hands-on experiments. The KZN Department of education believes that thee workshop will help in ultimately driving improvements in teaching and learning outcomes across the province.
Attendees will be able to take their learnings and insights back to their schools to share and implement. The students will be able to learn and grow in the field of science.
