Botswana: The Department of Learner Support Services (DLSS) in the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education hosted Principal Education Officers for a workshop. The department officers gave the attendants of the workshop valuable insights on Sexuality education
The Department of Learner Support Services attended a capacity-building initiative workshop focusing on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE). During this workshop the attendants learned about the various ways in which sexuality education can help them lead informed and healthy lives.
The wants to discuss plans for including Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in the morning curriculum. With CSE becoming part of the curriculum, youngsters will learn to lead Healthy lives.
The Ministry wants to create and develop healthy attitudes and behaviors that will help reduce risks of sexually transmitted infections. This will help in reducing the number of early pregnancies and promote gender equality.
The Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic education wants to promote a sense of respect for diversity. The workshop was attended by many officers from the Ministry who reflected on the importance of Comprehensive Sexuality education.
Director Regional Operations-North West Veronicah Mochotlhi delivered a brief address at the workshop. During the event, she highlighted the significance of teaching CSE to learners.
She believes that the project will help equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Acting Deputy Director Rejoice Ramokate has hailed DLSS for their support. She said that they are important in making sure that the youth have access to Comprehensive Sexuality Education.
The Minstry and it’s partners are dedicated to creating a supportive environment where learners feel safe and respected. The Minstry wants to give them the space where they can thrive both academically and personally.
