South Africa: KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education is increasing their efforts to take the number one spot in South Africa when it comes to student performance. In accordance with this mandate of the department, members of the department head office visited the uThukela District.

The department highlighted that their performance in the major exams of 2023 has been exceptionally good. The hardwork and dedication of the students has encouraged them to strive for even better results in the upcoming year’s major exams.

The department is inspiring the students to work hard and perform better in the 2024 exams. The leadership highlighted that they want to see KwaZulu Natal province at the Number 1 spot when it comes to the nation’s education sector.

The aim of the leadership’s visit to the district was to provide academic support that will help in ensuring that all the schools in the district perform well.

The delegation that visited the uThukela District  was led by Deputy Director General for Institutional Development Support (IDS), Weziwe Hadebe. The team consisted of Chief Directors for District Operations Management, Dr David Chonco and Thembelihle Gumede.

They highlighted that the visit sought to assist in improving the performance of the district.

DDG Hadebe delivered a brief address at the beginning of the session. She said as the department they had a duty to ensure that all the districts are supported. She highlighted that they are dedicated to ensure that  KwaZulu-Natal performs well at the end of the year.

“Our biggest aim is to take the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education to number one in the country in terms of performance. And for us to be able to achieve that, we will need to work very hard and that includes what we are doing where we visit various districts to offer support that is key in taking us to the top”, She said.

The visit to UThukela District comes hot on the heels of another one in the King Cetshwayo District. Many other districts are still to be visited in an effort to take the department to the top.
