Malawi: President Dr Lazarus Chakwera today presided over the launch of the Annual Forestry Season at Mpasa Hill in Phalombe district.

The launch of the annual forestry season was hosted under the theme of Forest Innovation in Action: Reforestation for a Sustainable Tomorrow. The Mpasa Hill, Phalombe, was the venue for the launch event. Meanwhile, Mpasa Ccap Primary served as the venue for the developmental rally.

The people of the country are invited to attend the launch ceremony of the forestry season. During his visit to the primary school, he interacted with the young learners and talked to them about the importance of planting trees.

The President also gave the youngsters some seedlings and urged them to plant the trees. The president oversaw the plantation of the trees at the hands of the youngsters.

The President of Malawi is also installing the Senior Chief Kaduya as Paramount Chief of the Lhomwe People. The installation of the new chief comes after the death of the former chief. As the successor, Stelia Munyama will take over the responsibility of Senior Chief Kaduya.

The Chairperson of Mlakho wa Lhomwe, Muchanakwaye Mpuluka, and its former Chairperson, Leston Mulli, were present at the installation ceremony. They were accompanied by the representatives of several other cultural groups.

The people of Malawi appreciated the President for launching the official tree-planting season. Some social media users appreciated President Lazarus Chakwera for doing his duty for the people of the country.

While in the Phalombe district, the president also visited the Chilembwe Hospital. He saw many patients and interacted with many of them. Reports suggest that the patients were happy to see their president visiting them.

During his trip, President Chakwera gave an assortment of items to the patients and donated 400 bags of maize and packs of fish to the hospital.  The hospital authorities were extremely happy with the donation.

Health Minister Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda said that the facility uses 25 bags of maize in a month.
