Malawi: Police in Lundazi have discovered the body of a man along the border road at a place known as Kapili near Lusunga border. The identity of the man has not been confirmed by the members of the police force.
The officers have suggested that the victim was murdered after an attempted robbery. the details of the incident have been made public by the police officers.
The victim was attacked with the aim of robbing the man of his motorbike. After the robbery had been executed, the suspects, who have also not been conclusively identified, murdered the victim.
The timeline of the robbery and murder is suspected to be between June 6, 2025 around 22:00 hours and June 7, 2025 around 06:30 hours. The incident allegedly happened near the border with Malawi.
The investigation into the matter has been taken up by a team of police officers consisting of officers from both Malawi and Zambia. These officers visited and examined the murder scene and reported that they found found fragments of a motor bike lights.
They also found proof of the fact that the deceased person was on a motorbike.
The officers also found a bloody fresh stick which they think may have been used in the attack. Further, they reported that a bloody trail was discovered going in the direction of the Malawi border.
This led police officers to discover the second crime scene where the body of an unidentified man was found facing up.
Eastern Province Commissioner of Police, Robertson Mweemba has confirmed the incident in a media interview. He said that they conducted a physical inspection of the body and found that the man had sustained multiple head injuries and a fractured skull.
The officers have said that the crime was committed on the no man’s land and later dumped on the Malawian side. As such, the Malawi police has taken over the investigation of the matter and possession of the body of the unidentified man.
The body is currently deposited at Kalikumbi Health Post mortuary and waiting for possible identification and post-mortem examination.
