LWF Programme hosts 1 Day Training workshop on identification on disabilities

The LWF Somalia Sub Program hosted a one-day training for project stakeholders on the primary identification of different types of disabilities and appropriate ways of handling them. The Training was held today (Friday), December 8, 2023, in partnership with various departments and organizations.

The LWF Somalia Sub Program hosted a one-day training for project stakeholders on the primary identification of different types of disabilities and appropriate ways of handling them. The Training was held today (Friday), December 8, 2023, in partnership with various departments and organizations.

The Training brought together officials from the Ministry of Gender, the Ministry of Education, disability organizations, school heads, school education committees, and LWF community mobilizers.

The Training was held under the theme “Promoting access to quality education and well-being for children with disabilities in Kismayu, Somalia”.

The Training was aimed to support and recognize the diversity of disabilities and provide resources that meet the needs of people with different physical, mental and intellectual disabilities.

The meeting was also held to address the problems of the Special community. The Meeting emphasized, “Children living with disabilities are abled differently and are productive members of the society.”

Reportedly, the Lutheran World Federation, Kenya Somalia Programme is a faith-based humanitarian International Non-Governmental Organisation. The organization operates programmes in emergency relief and refugee camps. The Organisation has been continuous in its efforts to held several programmes for the sustainable development of Kenya and Somalia communities.

It involves building awareness of human rights at all community levels and their working environments.

Recently, the organization also hosted a World Disability Day Celebration on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

The Event was held in partnership with several organizations and departments, including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women, Family Affairs and Human Rights, local organizations championing disability rights, women’s groups, religious leaders and agencies.

Further, the Organisation has also been working and organizing to host the “Stop violence against women and girls”. On Sunday, The LWF staff members also joined other gender campaigners in Kakuma to echo the message of protecting women and girls from violence.
