The Botswana Foreign Affairs Ministry organized a meeting of the senior officials for the 4th session of the Botswana-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission in Muan, Botswana, on Wednesday.

Botswana, Maun: The Botswana Foreign Affairs Ministry organized a meeting of the senior officials for the 4th session of the Botswana-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission in Muan, Botswana, on Wednesday.

The meeting of senior officials is co-chaired by Ambassador Clifford Maribe, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and his counterpart from Zimbabwe, Ambassador Rofina N Chikava, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Among others, in their opening statements, the Co-Chairs noted that the BNC demonstrated the commitment of their countries to strengthen and expand areas of bilateral cooperation. They also underscored the need to finalize pending draft instruments of cooperation.

The Senior Officials meeting precedes the Ministerial Session and the Summit scheduled for later in the week. Moreover, after the meeting, the new Envoys to Botswana from Spain, Uganda and Kenya met with Dr. Lemogang Kwape to present copies of their Letters of Credence.

During his engagement with the Envoys, Dr Kwape wished them a successful tour of duty and expressed gratitude for the strong bonds of friendship that exist between their respective countries and Botswana.

The Envoys included Alberto De La Calle Garcia, Ambassador-Designate of Spain; Amoru Paul, High Commissioner-Designate of Uganda; as well as Sabdiyo Dido Bashuna, High Commissioner-Designate of Kenya.

On the same day, the Assistant Minister for State President, Dumezweni Mthimkhulu, also received a courtesy call from Canada’s new Envoy, Adler Aristilde, to Botswana in the afternoon on Wednesday.

During their meeting, the High-Commissioner Designate presented copies of his Letters of Credence. Mthimkhulu also congratulated him on his appointment and wished him a successful tour of duty.

The Minister further appreciated the cordial relations and excellent cooperation between Botswana and Canada. On his part, High Commissioner Designate Aristilde conveyed well wishes on behalf of Canada to the Government and people of Botswana and noted that he looked forward to enhancing cooperation between Botswana and Canada.
