MEC Education Sipho Hlomuka meets dept employees in roadshow

South Africa: The MEC for Education in KwaZuluNatal, Sipho Hlomuka, recently organized a roadshow with the aim of hosting a meet and greet employees in the department. Previously MEC Hlomuka, handled the responsibility for the department of Transport in the provincial government.

However, he has now now been trusted with the responsibility for the education department. Notably, the department was previously under the charge of Mbali Frazer. He has been understanding his responsibilities in his new role and meeting with all the stakeholders.

He also shared his own vision of how he wants to take things going forward in the administration. The meeting with the employees is a part of the MEC’s mandate to form a smooth working relation with them.

The Roaadshow was hosted on Friday, with the the MEC meeting employees from uMlazi, Pinetown, and uMgungundlovu districts. The employees had a highly fruitful discussion regarding their contribution and role under the new leadership.

G.N Ngcobo, who is one of the senior members of the department and chairperson of the meeting, shared the purpose of the day. He highlighted that the new MEC to meet and greet members of Senior Management at Head Office as well as District MANCO’s.

District Directors shared an overview of their districts with the MEC and Top Management of the Department of Education. The department also shared several images from the event on their social media, giving the general public a glimpse of the proceedings.

Sipho Hlomuka also delivered brief remarks at the event, expressed his gratitude to the HOD, DDGs, and the members of the 3 districts. He also noted that education is the future of the people of the province.

The MEC asked all officials, the need to work together in order to fast track services, he also shared that the focus of not only the Department but the people should be on teaching and learning.

“We need to create a conducive environment so learners can perform at their greatest potential.” At the end of the event, he extended his gratitude to the 3 districts on the great work they have been doing, especially in these challenging conditions, and issued a stern warning to officials who do not perform their duties diligently.
