South Africa (Mpumalanga): The MEC for Education, Bonakele Majuba, will convene a media briefing to outline the State of Readiness for the 2024 School Year on Tuesday, 09 January 2024, at the Chilli Pepper Hotel, Mbombela, from 09H00.

The MEC of Education Bonakele Majuba shared the information about the conference on their official social media account.

In the media briefing, MEC Majuba briefed about various issues like details and progress relating to the admission of learners, the delivery of learner and teaching support material, the post establishment for the 2024 school year, the transfer of paper budgets to schools, the rollout of the ubuhlebezwe e-learning programme and Scholar Transport Provisions within the Province.

As per the reports, in the media briefing session, the MEC will address Members of the School Governing Bodies of Bohlabela and Ehlanzeni District at the Communio Church in Mbombela at 12H00.

Moreover, on Wednesday, 10 January 2024, MEC Majuba will participate in a Cleanup Programme under the Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena Campaign at Imemeza Secondary School in Emgwenya/Waterval Boven at the Emakhazeni Local Municipality as part of the preparations for the 2024 school re-opening.

The Department is collaborating with the Department of Correctional Services and the Emakhazeni Local Municipality in this activity.

The activities for this programme will include but are not limited to cleaning classrooms, fixing broken school furniture and cultivating vegetable and flower gardens.

Moreover, MEC Majuba also talked about the major issue in school, which is Bullying in schools and society. He said, “This has generated a rising concern about the prevalence, seriousness and negative effects of Bullying in Schools, and it has encouraged many people to acknowledge their difficulties with Bullying and begin to address them.”

If BULLYING is not well addressed in schools, schools will become a dangerous and uncomfortable place for some people, learners.

Further, he said, “We all stand together and address Bullying in schools and in society.”
